Summary
Continued from T:89544. The second of two programs on this tape. The second season finale in this dramatic medical series about the lives and loves of a group of surgeons at a Seattle hospital. In the second half of this two-part episode, as punishment for not admitting who cut Denny's LVAD wire, the interns must help plan the cancer-stricken Camille's in-hospital "prom" instead of performing medical work. Eventually, Denny's heart begins working successfully and, after surgery, he lucidly "chooses" Izzie. As the interns struggle to put the prom together while dealing with their own personal issues and relationships, Finn arrives to tell Meredith about Doc the dog's worsening condition. Recovering from surgery, Preston finds he has slight tremors in his hands. At the same time, a furious Richard begins questioning the individual interns as to who cut Denny's LVAD wires, but he instead learns mainly about each's personal issues. As guests begin arriving for the prom, Izzie finally accepts Denny's marriage proposal and Meredith, Derek, Addison and Finn put Doc to sleep. While prom guests mingle, George and Callie have an impromptu reunion before Meredith and Derek eventually find themselves alone, having their own sort of rocky reunion. Then, suddenly, Denny dies from an unexpected blood clot-related stroke, leaving a shocked Izzie to finally admit it was her who cut the LVAD wires and that she is quitting the intern program as she sees herself not fit to be a surgeon. Ultimately, Meredith is torn over who to choose as a romantic partner -- Derek or Finn. Includes commercials.
