UGLY BETTY: FEY'S SLEIGH RIDE (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy-drama series about Betty Suarez, a young Queens woman trying to make it in the fashion industry despite her unglamorous appearance.

In this episode, Betty cozies up with Carlo Medina, editor at rival magazine Isabella, at a networking party. She also meets office outcast "Fat Carol," who glories in being rude to co-workers. Meanwhile, Daniel and Wilhelmina prepare a post-apocalyptic Christmas spread for Mode. Later, Wilhelmina -- and the mysterious masked woman -- hold a prized possession of Fey's, her red music box from Bradford. The next day, Justin joins Betty at Mode as part of a school project in which he is to observe the work of someone whose job he admires.

That morning, Mode staffers are stunned to learn that Isabella magazine has copied their Christmas spread. That means there must be a leak at the magazine, and it is most likely Betty, Marc, or Amanda, all of whom consorted with Carlo. Now the three must form an uneasy alliance to save their jobs. Daniel and Wilhelmina form their own alliance to hide the leak from Bradford while quickly rushing to get another spread produced. Meanwhile, Ignacio struggles with his new health restrictions while Walter struggles with not having Betty as his girlfriend.

Eventually, each of Mode's departments are "cleared" of leaking the spread, leaving only the three assistants as suspects. Accordingly, Marc develops asthma and Amanda can't stop eating. With Betty about to come clean to Daniel, he stops her, noting that he'd rather not know the truth if it would mean he'd have to lose her. Daniel, Wilhelmina, and Vincent pull an all-nighter trying to come up with a new spread, eventually drawing inspiration from a previous best-seller, Fey's Sleigh Ride.

The next morning, the three assistants are called into Wilhelmina's office while Fey's music box appears on Daniel's desk, revealing a truth to him about his father's past. In the meantime, Justin, Ignacio, and Walter are about to have their own secrets exposed. After Wilhelmina lowers the ax on the guilty party at Mode, she then decides to strike a most unusual bargain with the enemy. Includes commercials. This program is closed-captioned.
