UGLY BETTY: IN OR OUT (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy-drama series about Betty Suarez, a young Queens woman trying to make it in the fashion industry despite her unglamorous appearance.

In this episode, the aftermath of Sofia's public break-up with Daniel proves dramatic for many. Betty now works at Burrito King while Hilda deals with being out of a job due to a "Herbalux nightmare." Meanwhile, Wilhelmina and the masked lady prepare for their takeover of Mode. Wilhelmina goes so far as to decide who will stay and who will go once she is named editor-in-chief, particularly wondering whether to keep Christina. At the same time, Daniel licks his wounds, holed up and depressed in his now-messy apartment. Betty discovers him when she arrives at his address -- thinking he's in Rio -- to stock his fridge. Daniel is surprised to learn that Betty quit her job with Sofia, wondering if she wishes to have her assistant job back at Mode -- working alongside Amanda. Finally, Daniel is able to return to society, shocked at the prevalence of MYW covers around the city.

Back at Mode, he is determined to avoid Sofia while struggling to get back into the swing of things. Betty is determined to help Daniel get his confidence back by finding him a new woman. However, she continues to have problems at work herself; as Amanda feels she's being upstaged by Betty, Amanda has begun a campaign to belittle Betty, even getting her a "junior" desk. Meanwhile, Hilda starts selling Grandma Suarez's cupcakes at a local diner, though her plan doesn't go as well as she had hoped. Eventually, Betty sets Daniel up with model Gisele Bundchen. Meanwhile, Marc convinces Amanda to help push Daniel out and join Wilhelmina's "team." Amanda goes so far as to secretly cancel his date with Gisele. He narrowly escapes public humiliation when Betty comes to his rescue. The two enjoy a night together of pizza, deep talks, and Sonny and Cher-inspired karaoke.

Elsewhere, Wilhelmina dangles a plum in front of Christina: the chance to make her designs part of the upcoming Fashion Week show. Ultimately, Christina takes the bait, despite the price. Back at the office, Amanda admits defeat to Betty and takes her old job back. Finally, the masked women is unmasked: It's Alex Meade, now remade into Alexis! Includes commercials.
