Summary
The first episode of this historical dramatization, based on Joseph P. Lash's Pulitzer Prize-winning book about Eleanor and Franklin Roosevelt. This episode follows Eleanor's early years and includes the death of her parents; her encounters with cousin Franklin D. Roosevelt; her schooling at Allenswood, England; her introduction into New York society; the courtship of Eleanor and Franklin; Sara Delano Roosevelt's disapproval of Eleanor; and Franklin's proposal of marriage. This episode concludes with their New York wedding, where Eleanor is given away by her uncle, President Theodore Roosevelt. Commercials deleted.
