DUPONT SHOW OF THE MONTH: ARROWSMITH (TV)

Summary

One in this series of dramas presented live by Dupont. This program concerns the career of a young doctor, Martin Arrowsmith. Arrowsmith's major goal in life is to make great discoveries in immunology. This is curtailed by his love for Leora Tozer, whom he marries and must support by entering another area of medicine. Arrowsmith's interest in preventive medicine is unfaltering and it greatly influences his life.

Arrowsmith becomes totally involved in immunology and he and Leora go to the British West Indies to experiment on vaccines to stop an outbreak of the bubonic plague. Arrowsmith, in the interest of scientific research, decides that only half of the population will get the vaccine while the other half remains as a control group. This action ends in tragedy when Leora contracts the disease and dies. Includes commercials.
