MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW, THE: CHUCKLES BITES THE DUST (TV)
Summary
One in this series of comedies about Mary Richards, a single career woman working in a television newsroom. In this episode, Ted is devastated when Lou will not allow him to serve as grand marshal in the annual circus parade. Kiddie-show host Chuckles the Clown takes on the task instead and is killed when an elephant mistakes the peanut-clad comic for a snack. On the day of the funeral, Mary is appalled to discover that Murray, Lou, and Sue Ann can't stop making jokes about the accident. Lou tries to explain that laughter serves as a release, but Mary refuses to understand. At the funeral home, however, Mary herself has to fight off chuckles about chuckles. Commercials deleted.
