Summary
This two-hour special is a musical/variety tribute to President and Mrs. Ronald Reagan by performers at Ford's Theatre in Washington, D.C. Jack Klugman welcomes the assemblage. Highlights of this portion include the following: Loretta Lynn sings a country song; David Copperfield with video trickery; Lena Horne sings "In My Life" and "If You Believe"; Peter Gennaro dances; violinist Itzhak Perlman plays Fritz Kreisler's "Schoen Rosmarin"; Andy Gibb sings "Words"; Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash sing "Goin' to Jackson"; Juliet Prowse sings and dances to "If They Could See Me Now"; Andy Williams sings a medley; and Lynda Carter sings. Further highlights include the following: Dom DeLuise with magic, assisted by Sen. Howard Baker, Jr., and Jack Klugman; George Benson sings and plays "On Broadway"; Luciano Pavarotti sings Tosti's "La Serenata"; Rodney Dangerfield with jokes; Christopher Cross sings "Sailing"; Twyla Tharp and others dance to the music of Fats Waller; Tony Bennett sings; ballerina Natalia Makarova dances "The Dying Swan," accompanied by Itzhak Perlman and Gloria Agostini; Johnny Cash sings; and President Reagan speaks.
