Summary
Episode six of this eighteen-hour drama, presented under the umbrella of "ABC Novel for Television," about the experiences of U.S. Navy officer Victor "Pug" Henry and his family from 1939 to 1941. In this portion, Pug meets with President Franklin D. Roosevelt aboard the President's train to discuss aid for Britain; Pug commands destroyers escorting a shipment of arms to England and the convoy runs into German submarines; and Rhoda Henry makes plans to leave Pug and marry Palmer Kirby.
Pug, Rhoda, and Byron dine at the White House, where Byron asks President Franklin D. Roosevelt to help Natalie and her uncle out of Europe; Berel Jastrow witnesses a massacre of Jews; and Pug and Palmer Kirby meet again. Natalie and Aaron are trapped in Italy; Pug meets with President Franklin D. Roosevelt; and Pug, traveling to Moscow on naval matters, meets Pamela. Includes commercials.
