ALICE: THE OVER-THE-HILL GIRLS (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about Alice, a single mother who works at a diner on the outskirts of Phoenix, Arizona. In this episode, Mel's mother Carrie arrives for a visit. She feels bored and depressed, and since Mel is on vacation, Alice, Vera, and Jolene try to cheer her up. When Alice finds out that Carrie has always wanted to be a singer, she gets her an audition at Vinnie's House of Veal, but Vinnie refuses to hire Carrie because he thinks that she is too old. Alice tries to stick up for Carrie but winds up losing her own job singing at the club because Vinnie has hired a younger singer to replace her. At the last minute, when it is discovered that the new singer is too young to perform in a nightclub, Vinnie comes to the diner and begs Alice and Carrie to sing on Saturday night. Highlights include Alice and Carrie singing "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?" and Carrie singing "Embraceable You." Commercials deleted.
