ANOTHER EVENING WITH FRED ASTAIRE (TV)

Summary

This music and dance special starring Fred Astaire focuses on the "beat," opening and closing with a song-and-dance number called "The Afterbeat." In program highlights, Astaire and partner Barrie Chase dance to "That Face!"; Astaire has a funny percussive "conversation" with drummer Alvin Stoller; Jonah Jones and his quartet perform "My Blue Heaven" and "Girl in Calico"; the company, led by Astaire, dances to Jones' interpretation of "Night Train"; Astaire and Chase dance to the "word jazz" narration of Ken Nordine in "My Baby"; the company dances to "Waltzing Matilda"; and Astaire and Chase put a spin on "Sophisticated Lady."
