AMERICAN FAMILY REVISITED, AN: THE LOUDS TEN YEARS LATER (TV)

Summary

In this documentary, members of the Loud family -- the subjects of the controversial, 12-part, cinema-verite documentary that aired on PBS in 1973 -- are interviewed 10 years after the series originally aired. In interviews with members of the original film crew, the Louds re-examine the experience of participating in the series and assess the affect that it had on their lives. The program examines the directions that their lives have taken, and allows them to discuss their regrets about their behavior on the series and review the problems with which they were confronted at the time the series was filmed. The interviews are interspersed with short film segments of the Louds engaging in various work and leisure activities in 1983 and clips from the original 1973 series. The program features excerpts of various family members' guest appearances that were made when the original series aired, on programs that include "The Dick Cavett Show"; "The Dating Game," in which Delilah is the "bachelorette," and Grant and Kevin sing; and "Weekend With the Louds" during a PBS pledge drive, in which Lance, Michele, and Delilah sing.
