McKellen discusses his preparation and technique and is seen in rehearsal. The program includes rehearsal and performance excerpts from "Wild Honey" (Michael Frayn's adaptation of the Chekhov play often called "Platonov"), Shakespeare's "Coriolanus," and "The Duchess of Malfi," by John Webster. Also included are an excerpt from the film of "Plenty" (based on the play by David Hare), with Meryl Streep, and McKellen's acceptance speeches for the Laurence Olivier Award and the Best Actor award (for his performance in the title role of "Coriolanus"), from Britain's Standard Drama Awards.
