DESIGNING WOMEN: PILOT {SERIES PREMIERE} (TV)
Summary
The premiere episode of this comedy series about four Southern women who run an interior decorating business, Sugarbakers, in Atlanta.
In this episode, Suzanne needs to find a new gynecologist and Charlene suggests Mary Jo's ex-husband, Ted. When Suzanne's first appointment turns into a dinner date, Charlene and Suzanne's older sister, Julia, express disapproval. Although she tries to be magnanimous, Mary Jo grows increasingly resentful of the new couple because of the speed of their courtship and because of their extravagant lifestyle, as she was the one to put Ted through medical school and now has nothing to show for it. Suzanne is undeterred, however, even when she hears about Ted's philandering ways. When Ted proposes to Suzanne, Mary Jo confronts her former husband and finally get the gratitude she deserves. Elsewhere, Charlene dates a questionable man, and Julia educates a would-be suitor on the finer points of female friendship. Commercials deleted.
