LOST IN SPACE: PRINCESS OF SPACE (TV)

Summary

One in this series of science fiction programs about the Robinsons, a family of space colonists from Earth who have become hopelessly "lost in space." In this episode, Captain Kraspo and his Steward Fedor face mutiny aboard their machine-manned space craft and are about to give up their five-year search for their planet's lost princess. Then Kraspo's telescope alerts them to Penny, who may be the one for whom they are searching. Kraspo sends for her but gets Will mistakenly, and explains the story of Planet Beta's missing Princess Alpha -- the only one who can give power to the magical Royal Scepter, thus regaining control of the rebellious evil machines on Beta. Will hesitates to admit that Princess Alpha's description matches Penny's exactly. Kraspo is determined to reclaim his princess, and he goes to the Robinsons' camp, taking Dr. Smith, the Robot, and Penny back to his ship. Kraspo insists that Penny is the princess, but Penny doesn't believe it, so Kraspo blackmails her. He turns Major West and Judy into pieces of computer tape, using them to threaten Penny into going along with the plan. Penny agrees to cooperate, going through several hours of preparation for a visit from "Aunt Gamma," the last surviving member of Beta's royal family. When Gamma arrives, she decides that Penny is indeed the long lost Princess, and she makes plans for an immediate coronation. Meanwhile, Gamma jails Captain Kraspo for his duplicity and promotes Fedor to captain. Later, Will overhears Fedor talking with some of the machines about taking over the ship, after which Fedor reveals that he is a machine in disguise. At the coronation, Kraspo and Will barge in and reveal the truth about Fedor just as the machines attack. Scepter in hand, Penny remains powerless. Will does some deductive reasoning and realizes that the real princess must have been reduced to tape years ago -- and that the code needed to reconstitute her is something the group has known all along. He must race against time to restore her to power and fight the nefarious machines. Commercials deleted.
