ORSON WELLES -- SPAIN

Summary

This unfinished and unaired documentary was meant to serve as a fund-raising tool for a collaborative project between pioneering filmmakers Albert and David Maysles and Orson Welles. The project never went beyond this initial filming. In the documentary, Welles discusses the movie with spectators at a bullfighting arena. Calling the bullfight a tragedy, Welles explains that the lead character's life will parallel that of the drama of the bullfighting ring. He explains that the movie will be shot without a script, while lamenting the fact that movie makers are not experimenting anymore. Shots of a bullfight are included.
