HALLMARK HALL OF FAME: JOHNNY BELINDA (TV)
Summary
One in this series of dramatic specials presented by Hallmark. This play concerns the struggles of Belinda, a young deaf woman whose life is transformed when a new physician, Dr. Pelletier, moves to her provincial island town and, refusing to believe that she cannot learn, teaches Belinda sign language. The local townspeople, however, scorn the doctor for his unconventional ideas. When Belinda is raped and becomes pregnant, gossip spreads and Pelletier is rumored to be the father. After the doctor leaves the island for a new position and Belinda's father is murdered, Belinda must fight to maintain custody of her child. Includes commercials.
