HALLMARK HALL OF FAME: TAXI!!! (TV)

Summary

One in this series of dramatic specials presented by Hallmark. This drama concerns a taxi ride that a worldly, middle-aged woman takes with a garrulous New York City taxi driver. Although the two live in different worlds, their conversation reveals the unhappy similarities of their troubled marriages. Eva Marie Saint plays the woman who is travelling to Caracas to follow a young tennis player; the woman is separated from her husband, who is a manufacturer in London. Martin Sheen is the loquacious taxi driver who reveals much about his own confused feelings while prying into his customer's life. As the rush hour ride nears its end, the two give each other advice in their attempt to solve each other's problems. Commercials deleted.

(Beginning with the live telecast of the opera "Amahl and the Night Visitors" on December 24, 1951, Hallmark has sponsored a series of dramatic specials which, since 1952, has aired under the title "Hallmark Hall of Fame." From 1952 to 1955 Hallmark also presented "Hallmark Hall of Fame," a weekly half-hour dramatic anthology series hosted by Sarah Churchill. The first program, "Dr. Serocold," was televised in January 1952 under the title "Hallmark Television Theatre." This series also ran under the title "Hallmark Summer Theatre" in July and August 1952.)
