LATE SHOW WITH DAVID LETTERMAN {DENZEL WASHINGTON; FAITH EVANS} (TV)

Summary

One in this series of late-night talk/variety programs hosted by David Letterman. This program features actor Denzel Washington and singer Faith Evans. In his opening monologue, Letterman touches upon the following topics: the pleasant spring weather; the beginning of baseball seasons; NYC's recent troubles with potholes; the rise in organ donation rates; and the infamous (and fake) story of a human finger found in Wendy's chili.

Next, in an "Audience Show and Tell" segment, Letterman chats with a man who had a role as an extra in Best Picture winner "A Beautiful Mind" (2001); a modern dancer who performs an impressive acrobatic trick with Letterman's help; and an Army veteran who previously met Letterman overseas, who sings a snippet of Deniece Williams' "Let's Hear It for the Boy."

Letterman then offers some trivia facts about Durham, North Carolina, from which one of the audience guests hails; offers some jokes about television shows "Passions" and "Blind Justice," and presents the Top Ten list: "The Top Ten Signs You're Not Getting Enough Sleep."

Washington then joins Letterman to chat about the Yankees' upcoming season; his recent fiftieth birthday; his daughter's overseas trip with a singing group; his son's football injury and potential interest in acting; his current Broadway role as Brutus in "Julius Caesar" and his enjoyment in performing for live audiences; the play's modern style and parallels to real-life politicians; his long rehearsal process and techniques for mastering the challenging dialogue; his first experience with Shakespeare in the Park, in the 1979 production of "Coriolanus" alongside Morgan Freeman; his interest in sailing; his "good genes" and eternally handsome looks; and his plans to direct "The Great Debaters" (2007) and act in "Inside Man" (2006), directed by Spike Lee.

Faith Evans then performs "Again" from her new album "The First Lady." Includes commercials and promos. Program cuts off abruptly.
