CAMPBELL PLAYHOUSE {SERIES PREMIERE}: REBECCA, PT. 2 (RADIO)

Summary

Continued from R87:0476. Part two of two. The premiere of this weekly drama series featuring adaptations of popular and literary classics. This program presents the first dramatization of Daphne du Maurier's novel "Rebecca." In this part, Frank Crawley finishes telling Mrs. de Winter about the tragic drowning of her husband's first wife, Rebecca. Later, in Rebecca's old room, the housekeeper, Mrs. Danvers, tells Mrs. de Winter to jump out the window and attempts to push her over but a ship runs aground on a reef. When Rebecca's boat and her body are discovered, Maxim de Winter makes a confession to his wife about Rebecca's death. After the drama, Welles talks with Sullivan and conducts a phone interview with du Maurier in London about the setting for Manderly and the name of the heroine in the novel. The program concludes with an announcement of the following week's program, credits, and the theme music. Includes commercials.
