ENTERTAINERS, THE (SERIES PREMIERE) (TV)

Summary

This variety series had three stars but no formal host, and each of its performers would present the act to follow at the end of his or her segment. Among the sketches in which Burnett appears are "The Blind Date" with Dom DeLuise; comic versions of "The Little Match Girl" and "Cinderella"; and an illustration of how the news might be presented if all newscasters were women. Guest stars with whom Burnett performs are Ed Wynn, Phil Silvers, Boris Karloff, Chita Rivera, and Steve Allen. Two members of the creative staff -- music director Harry Zimmerman and choreographer Ernest Flatt -- were to work with Burnett on many of her television specials.
