IT'S TIME FOR ERNIE (PROBABLY MARCH 7, 1951) and KOVACS ON THE CORNER (1953?) (TV)
Summary
The following summary was provided by Ben Model:
tape has two programs on it:
"It's Time For Ernie" - airdate (probably) March 7, 1951 - NBC
This may be the earliest surviving kine of a Kovacs show. The program ran in May and June, but there was a trial run on March 7, 8 and 9 and Ernie mentions during a fake phone call that the show is only on for three days, and his sign-off saying this is "series 1 of 3" probably indicates the show is from this trial and from its first day...March 7. Additionally, the show has the look of an informal rehearsal -- the opening doesn't go right and they just start over, the TV knob bit is shot too close and doesn't work, Ernie has to verbally cue a stagehand to throw a prop to him, the director is heard over the p.a. telling Ernie "You're off the set!"
The following content is:
"Kovacs on the Corner" - airdate unknown (again, possibly January 1953, see above) first half of show only...same episode as Paley T85:0886 which has the complete episode.
