ERNIE KOVACS {HOME MOVIES} {UNAIRED}

Summary

These silent home movies, in both color and black-and-white, were filmed behind-the-scenes on the set of Ernie Kovacs's early television programs, and were never aired on television. In the first clip, a parody of a drill squad, other soldiers march in an orderly fashion but Kovacs is out of step, dragging his belongings. A segment filmed on the set of "Kovacs on the Corner" includes the following skits: Kovacs smokes a cigar through the crossbar of a lamppost; Kovacs plays with two little girls, and dances with a woman whom he throws from shoulder to shoulder and swings high above his head. Also included are the rehearsal and filming of a skit in which Kovacs portrays each member of a baseball team. Wearing various costumes, he also portrays various people attending the game, including a little girl and a hot dog vendor. In the next segment, filmed on the street, Kovacs encounters a hot dog vendor. The program concludes back on the set of a Kovacs television program.
