BEST OF ERNIE KOVACS, THE (TV)

Summary

One in this ten-part series of programs which presents a compilation of celebrated Ernie Kovacs comedy sketches from his 1950-1962 television career. Highlights include: a chess match which involves four championship players against the Russian champion, who is blindfolded and makes the first move; a radio announcer gives the play by play of an exclusive presentation of a new style of bikini; the German disc jockey, Wolfgang Von Sauerbraten, plays music and advertises products, even though it is hard to understand a word he says; Mr. Question Man answers questions from a man trapped in a burning warehouse, a person in Africa celebrating Thanksgiving, a South African tribe member, and a poker player in the middle of a high stakes game; a gentleman packs his suitcase for a tropical vacation; the bumbling magician, Matzoh Hepplewhite, performs a trick with a member of the audience and then proceeds to cut a women in half; Kovacs demonstrates what the set and characters would look like in color for the viewers who don't have color television sets; "The Nairobi Trio" trys to perform the simple task of stacking building blocks; and Kovacs closes the show while sitting on a tree branch and cutting it away from the rest of the tree.
