Anwar Sadat of Egypt, and Prime Minister Menachem Begin of Israel announce a framework for peace in the Middle East. Emmy ceremonies resume as Alan Alda, Linda Lavin, Steve Martin, Joanne Woodward, Beau Bridges, Priscilla Lopez, Billy Dee Williams, and Fionnula Flanigan introduce clips from old and recent programs and present awards. Individual winners include Dave Powers for "The Carol Burnett Show"; Blanche Baker for "Holocaust"; and Ricardo Montalban for "How the West Was Won." Alda presents the First Governors' Award of the Academy to CBS Chairman William S. Paley, who speaks. Then, celebrities presenting awards and introducing clips from old and recent programs include the following: Bea Arthur, Milton Berle, Chevy Chase, Lily Tomlin, Cicely Tyson, Alex Haley, Edward Asner, Hal Linden, Olivia Cole, Shirley MacLaine, and Mary Tyler Moore. Individual winners include the following: Dwight Hemion for "Ben Vereen: His Roots"; Eva Le Gallienne for "The Royal Family"; Howard Da Silva; Fred Astaire for "A Family Upside Down"; and Joanne Woodward for "See How She Runs."
