HAPPY DAYS: BIG MONEY (TV)

Summary

One in this series of comedies about life in the 1950s. In this episode, Richie, Ralph, and Potsie attend a taping of the game show "Big Money," during which Richie is selected as a contestant. When Richie knows the answers to a string of baseball-related questions, he's invited to be part of the following week's show. Back at home, Marion, Howard, and Joanie tell Richie what his winnings could buy.

The next day at Arnold's, Richie turns down a chance to be tutored by Fonzie's shady pal Quincy the Quill; Potsie, Ralph, Howard, and Marion then help Richie cram on baseball minutiae. After returning for a second taping of the show, Richie earns more bucks and decides to go for the $5,000 prize, just as time runs out. While leaving the studio, host Jack Whippett gives Richie an envelope which he tells him to read later.

With the boys at Arnolds, Richie is confused to find that the envelope contains the correct answer to his $5,000 question. When returning to the studio, Jack tells Richie that it's standard practice for "popular" contestants to receive the answers. A disillusioned Fonzie leaves Richie to ponder the situation. At home, Howard tells Richie that he's the only one who can decide the outcome.

Back at the show, Richie purposely loses the $5,000, much to Jack's dismay. When the family returns home, a proud Howard tells Richie that he did the right thing. Commercials deleted.
