SIMPSONS, THE: THE SIMPSONS HALLOWEEN SPECIAL V: TREEHOUSE OF HORROR V (TV)

Summary

One in this animated comedy series about the Simpsons -- Homer and Marge, and their children, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie. In this episode, the fifth annual Halloween special, the Simpsons pay tribute to classic horror and science fiction films. The first installment, entitled "The Shinning," finds the Simpsons going to Mr. Burns's vacation lodge to work as the caretakers for the winter. Smithers cuts off the cable television in the lodge and removes all the beer, which may lead Homer to go insane and murder his family. Just as Homer is about to chop his loving family to bits, Lisa finds the only way to stop him. In the second story, entitled "Time and Punishment," Homer attempts to repair the toaster which turns into a time-travel machine. Homer knows that if he touches anything while in the past, the future may be changed forever. The first time Homer returns from the past, Ned Flanders is the ruler of the world. The next time he returns, Homer is reduced to the size of a midget while everyone else has become giants. After zooming through several more alternate universes, Homer returns home to the way things used to be -- or as close to normal as possible. The last horror story, entitled "Nightmare Cafeteria," finds the students of Springfield Elementary school disappearing after they are sent to detention. Bart, Lisa, and Milhouse realize that students are being used as lunch and desperately try to escape Principal Skinner's growing appetite. This program is closed-captioned. Commercials deleted.
