One in this gothic daytime serial about the Collins family of Collinsport, Maine. In this episode, David gives Carolyn the toy soldier to protect her, then sees the aged Barnabas gazing at them from the bushes. Liz believes David's tale of a "100-year-old man" is a fantasy. She assures Carolyn that there's no connection between Sarah and Barnabas, concluding that David is mentally unstable and must be sent away. In the meantime, Julia feels guilty about telling Barnabas to bite Vicky. She insteads offers to sacrifice herself to restore Barnabas's appearance. Though touched, he declines, noting that he needs her to continue as his doctor. In the meantime, Carolyn decides -- over David's protests -- to go to the Old House and investigate his claims. Leaving the toy soldier behind, she sneaks into the seemingly deserted basement and discovers the coffin. Raising the lid, she finds it empty. However, her relief quickly turns to horror as she comes face-to-face with her worst nightmare. Commercials deleted.
