JACK PAAR PROGRAM, THE {BILL COSBY, HELEN O'CONNELL, JOAN RIVERS} (TV)

Summary

One in this series of talk/variety programs hosted by Jack Paar. In his monologue, Paar discusses his autobiographical book "Three on a Toothbrush"; his travels in East Africa, Jordan, and Russia; and his two dogs, Schnapps and Leica. Paar then introduces the following segments: Helen O'Connell sings "The Boy from Ipanema" and "When the Sun Comes Out"; Bob Williams performs a comedy dog act with his rather unkempt and lethargic dog, Louie; Jim Henson's Muppets make an appearance -- three odd creatures who pop up from a smoky lair and repeat a nonsense phrase with a jazz accompaniment -- and young Henson takes a bow afterwards; Joan Rivers does a stand-up routine about her difficulty meeting single men in show business and her fear of flying; Rivers joins Paar and talks about her work as a comedy writer, her family background, and her USO tour in Asia; and finally Bill Cosby does a stand-up piece about his neighborhood friends from childhood, a go-cart race, and his love of radio horror dramas. Includes commercials and promos.
