FORSYTE SAGA, THE {PART 8 OF 26}: INDIAN SUMMER OF A FORSYTE (TV)
Summary
Part eight of twenty-six adapted from a series of novels written by Nobel Prize-winning author John Galsworthy. The series depicts the lives and loves of several generations of an upper middle-class British family from 1879 to 1926, revolving around two cousins, Jo and Soames Forsyte. In this episode, June and Irene learn of Bosinney's death, and Jolyon decides to buy the home that Soames had commissioned from Bosinney.
The program is followed by an installment of "Behind the Scenes," a series of conversations with James Day, president of NET, and those associated with "The Forsyte Saga." In this installment, Day talks with Joseph O'Conor, who plays Jolyon, and John Welsh, who plays James.
(This series first aired on 126 public broadcast stations in the U.S. from October 1969 to March 1970, and its immense popularity led to the creation of "Masterpiece Theatre" in 1971.)
