PERRY COMO'S CHRISTMAS IN ENGLAND (TV)
Summary
In this Christmas special from England, Perry Como and guests perform holiday songs throughout the country. The program opens with Perry singing “Happy Holidays” “London Is London,” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” with guest Ann-Margret in various London locales. Next, Perry welcomes all to the show before singing “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year.” Ann-Margret joins Perry in Shepherd’s Market, presenting him with some Swedish Christmas cookies. Perry goes into an 1880s-style pub for a pint as carolers sing “Deck the Halls.” Outside, Ann-Margret sings “The Christmas Song.” Afterward, Ann-Margret enters the pub to join Perry and watch some traditional dancing before the carolers sing “Consider Yourself.” Perry and Ann-Margret respond with “Thank You Very Much.” Next, Perry and Ann-Margaret sing “The Best of Times” while on the Venice/Simplon Orient Express, with Ann-Margret explaining the train’s workings to Perry. Ann-Margret also gives Perry a “Swedish painted horse” knick-knack for good luck. Then, Ann-Margret and Perry sing “Santa Lucia” in Swedish and Italian, respectively. Getting off the train at Burford, they join the Cambridge Buskers for a holiday celebration, after which two musicians play selections on flute and accordion. Then everyone sings “I Saw Three Ships.” Next, Perry is welcomed to the village and invited to an authentic English Christmas dinner. Next, Perry and Ann-Margret go Christmas shopping in London. Then, Perry and Ann-Margret sing “I Wish It Could Be Christmas Forever,” leading into Perry’s rendition of “Silver Bells” while atop a London double-decker bus. Next, Perry and Ann-Margret walk the golf course near Leeds Castle before singing “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” After carolers perform “Here We Come A-Caroling,” Ann-Margret sings “Away in a Manger” as Perry accompanies on the piano. The group then sings “It Came Upon a Midnight Clear,” seguing into Perry’s rendition of “Christ is Born.” Later, everyone takes part in a candlelight procession to St. Mary’s Church in Swinbrook as Perry sings “O Holy Night.” Commercials deleted.
