Summary
One in this series of programs that presents an orchid
to a celebrity as it pays tribute to his or her career.
In this edition, the Orchid Award is presented to
Broadway musical star Isabel Bigley. Host Donald Woods
recounts the highlights of Bigley's rise to Broadway
fame: first Bigley receates her days as a secretary in
an insurance company; Woods describes how she won the
role of Laurey in the national company of "Oklahoma!" by
auditioning for Rodgers and Hammerstein and Bigley
sings "People Will Say We're in Love" from that show;
Woods displays a doll from Bigley's collection of dolls
dressed in the costumes from the parts she has played;
from her next Broadway hit, "Guys and Dolls," Bigley
sings "If Were a Bell" and the chorus sings the show's
title song; Bigley then sings "No Other Love" from the
Rodgers and Hammerstein musical "Me and Juliet" in
which she starred and Woods presents her with a special
"Me and Juliet" doll in addition to the program's orchid
award. Includes commercials and promos.
The second program on this tape is the Orchid Award
tribute to Liberace.
