LAVERNE & SHIRLEY: NOT QUITE NEW YORK {SIXTH SEASON PREMIERE} (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about two young working women, following their humorous adventures from the 1950s through the 1960s.
In this episode, Frank and Edna call Laverne and Shirley from California, where they're opening their new restaurant. The girls tell them that they're expecting to get promotions at the brewery, along with their fellow bottle-cappers. However, the next day's announcement at the brewery informs staffers that all bottle-cappers are being laid off since management has invested in an automatic bottle-capping machine. Although shocked, Laverne and Shirley quickly decide to move to California to be with Frank and Edna.
The next day, the girls dream of being discovered by a Hollywood producer and becoming movie stars, which they believe will lead to them finding handsome husbands and starting their own families. After getting Squiggy and Lenny to agree to drive them to the West Coast, the girls clean out their apartment. Meanwhile, a lovelorn Carmine promises to save up enough money to soon join Shirley in Hollywood. Finally, as the girls look at their now-empty apartment, they think back and reminisce about the good times they had there over the years. Commercials deleted.
