LUCY SHOW, THE: LUCY GOES INTO POLITICS (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series starring Lucille Ball as Lucy Carmichael. In this episode, Mr. Mooney runs for city comptroller. Lucy and Vivian offer Mooney their volunteer services for the campaign, but he is loath to accept, at least at first. After realizing that Lucy's influence could add some votes to his tally, he reluctantly lets her help with a Saturday afternoon rally -- by licking the envelopes of 3000 invitations and their 3000 accompanying stamps. Later, when Mooney gives Lucy the job of confirming the appearance of the Scottish Pipers at the rally, she forgets. Even worse, Lucy and Viv volunteer to paste up a Mooney campaign advertisement on a billboard, with disastrous results. After getting canned as volunteers, Lucy finally realizes that she never confirmed the appearance of the Scottish Pipers and is forced to scramble to convince them to play, even if it involves a bit of impersonation. Commercials deleted.
