Summary

One in this darkly comedic soap opera about the denizens of Wisteria Lane, a suburban neighborhood with a seedy underbelly that is thrust to the forefront after the suicide of one titular housewife.

This special episode recaps the plot of the show so far and presents a series of clips. Plot points covered include: Gabrielle’s tumultuous relationship with both Carlos and John; Bree’s attempts to cheat on her husband in revenge for an affair he had; Lynette’s attempts to balance her strenuous job with her responsibilities as a mother; Susan’s discoveries about Mike’s past and how Zach becomes involved; Rex’s dispute with George, which inadvertently leads to his own death; Bree’s subsequent difficulties with Rex’s mother concerning his funeral, as well as her problems with George and Andrew’s attempts to drive him away; the disastrous fallout from Bree’s engagement to George and George’s semi-accidental suicide; Gabrielle’s brief pregnancy and miscarriage, and how she dealt with the ensuing grief and confusion; her attempts to get Carlos out of jail and her lawyer David’s affections towards her; Carlos’s relationship with a nun; Lynette and Tom’s attempt to teach their sons about safety precautions, which goes horribly awry; Lynette’s friendship with her boss, which gets out of hand quickly, especially when she discovers she is having an affair, which indirectly leads to her getting a promotion; the mystery surrounding Betty Applewhite, who keeps her son Caleb chained up in her basement since he supposedly murdered someone, and Caleb’s escape into the neighborhood; Matthew’s burgeoning relationship with Danielle; Betty and Matthew’s successful attempt to break Caleb out of a mental institution; Susan and Mike’s altercation with Zach, and Mike revealing to Susan that Zach is the child of Paul and Deirdre, whom he and Mary Alice kidnapped, and that Mary Alice accidentally killed Deirdre; Karl’s relationship with Edie and its effect on Susan; her attempts to protect Julie from a runaway Zach; Paul’s return and Mike’s disgust with Susan for sending Zach away without telling him; and a one-night stand between Susan and Karl after he breaks up with Edie.
