Summary
One in this weekly drama series featuring adaptations of popular and literary classics. Orson Welles appears as the stage manager in this production of Thornton Wilder's "Our Town," linking the play's the action with running commentary. He opens the drama, set in Grover's Corners at the turn of the century, by describing the town and introducing the cast. It is 1901 and the Gibb and Webb families start their day. Emily Webb and George Gibb walk home from school and do their homework together. Three years later, Emily and George begin their wedding day by having breakfast with their respective families. The story flashes back to their engagement day. Emily and George marry. The action continues nine years later, in the summer of 1913, at Emily's funeral. Emily is greeted by Julia Gibbs, who is also dead, and she relives her twelfth birthday. The play closes with the music and credits. Includes commercials.
