CAMPBELL PLAYHOUSE: PETER IBBETSON (RADIO)

Summary

One in this weekly drama series featuring adaptations of popular and literary classics. Orson Welles introduces the show. In this drama, Peter Ibbetson returns to Paris where he lived as a small boy. He meets Mary, the Duchess of Towers, and they simultaneously dream of meeting in a garden. They later realize they were childhood playmates, but decide they cannot meet again because she is married. Peter is sentenced to life imprisonment for killing his uncle. In the dreams they share, Peter and Mary (now widowed) meet every night for the rest of their lives. Welles gives closing remarks and announces the following week's programs, "Ah, Wilderness!" and "Wuthering Heights." Hayes cites the importance of Welles's contribution to radio. Includes commercials.
