CAMPBELL PLAYHOUSE: WICKFORD POINT (RADIO)

Summary

One in this weekly drama series featuring adaptations of popular and literary classics. This drama chronicles the lives of the Brills, a once-wealthy eccentric New England family who live in their own world on a country estate. The story is seen through the eyes of their cousin Jim Calder who, though loyal to the Brills, attempts to extricate himself from the family's control. Jim is particularly drawn to his flirtatious cousin Bella. He drives her to meet her date Howard Berg, then stops for a drink with her ex-husband Joe. Later, with his girlfriend, Pat, Jim describes his fascination with the family. At Bella's request, Jim persuades Howard to leave. Bella then breaks all ties with Joe. Jim returns to Pat, although he remains enthralled with the Brills. The program ends with Orson Welles and John P. Marquand discussing the play, and an announcement of the following week's program, "Our Town" by Thornton Wilder. Includes commercials.
