NATIONAL KIDNEY FOUNDATION: KIDNEY MACHINE/KID
{ART DIRECTORS CLUB, 1973: 52ND ANNUAL EXHIBITION}
Summary
In this donation appeal for the National Kidney Foundation, a physician explains to a young couple that their son Jack's kidney disease can be treated, but that the treatment is very expensive and the kidney program is terribly short of funding. He goes on to say that eight million people in this country suffer from kidney disease, but most medical foundations do not take it seriously. "You know I'll do everything I can," he says. "At least Jack has age in his favor." As Jack's parents leave the hospital, the announcer notes the irony of the situation. "It just doesn't make sense to have answers to a disease and not enough money to use them," he says. Slogan (supered): "Kidney disease. It's not just another charity. It's the fourth major cause of death in the country."
