SIX FEET UNDER: IT'S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR (TV)
Summary
One in this series about the Fisher clan, a loving -- if dysfunctional -- family struggling to maintain a sense of normalcy in the face of the stressful day-to-day operations of the eccentric family business, a funeral home in Los Angeles. In this episode, a biker named Jesse Ray Johnson meets his end after a collision with a truck. David is ecstatic because a biker funeral means big money, and he agrees to hold the service on Christmas, even though that's the one day Fisher & Sons is normally closed. Ruth tries desperately to make plans for the holidays, with little help from her children. Additionally, everyone in the family is haunted by memories of Nathaniel, Sr., who passed away exactly a year ago. Brenda lets a flirtatious guy in a clothing store put his hand up her skirt -- then opens up to her friend Melissa about it, explaining why her ostensible infidelity doesn't affect her feelings for Nate. Unaware of any improprieties, Nate presents Brenda with a one-year anniversary gift. They eat Christmas Eve dinner at Brenda's mom's place, and are taken aback to find Billy living there. At the flower shop, Ruth is standoffish and reticent in the face of Nikolai's sexual come-ons. She stops by the flower shop on Christmas Eve to find the place ransacked and Nikolai's legs broken. Altruistic as always, Ruth pays Nikolai's medical bills and offers to take care of him at her house until his legs heal. Meanwhile, Federico admits to Vanessa that he caught their friend Ramon having sex with a man, and she tells Ramon's wife. The Fisher Christmas dinner ends up being eclectic, to say the least. The biker funeral carries on downstairs, Nikolai begins crying as the meal starts, Keith and Taylor show up at the last minute, and Claire's wholesome date Toby ends up being too nice for his own good. While presiding over the late-night biker gathering, Nate has a heart-to-heart conversation with Marilyn Johnson, Jesse's widow. He has a seizure later that night and must tell Brenda about his medical condition. The next morning, Marilyn Johnson surprises Nate with an extra special Christmas gift.
