HULLABALOO {NOEL HARRISON, PETULA CLARK, SAM THE SHAM AND THE PHARAOHS, KIM WESTON, TOYS} (TV)

Summary

One in this series of musical/variety programs spotlighting pop music performers. This episode begins with the Hullabaloo dancers performing the opening number, and Petula Clark, the show’s first female host, welcomes the audiences and introduces the guest stars: singer Noel Harrison, rock and roll group Sam the Sham and The Pharaohs, girl group The Toys, and singer Kim Weston. Clark sings a medly “Downtown” and “I Know A Place,” accompanied by the dancers, and then introduces Sam the Sam and The Pharaohs, who perform their song “Ring Dang Doo.” Kim Weston, in her first television appearance, sings “Take Me In Your Arms” with the dancers. Harrison performs the Charles Aznavour song “A Young Girl” and then chats with Clark. They briefly sing a bit of the classic “I’m Henery the Eighth, I Am” together, followed by a lively rendition of “Knees Up Mother Brown.” The Toys then sing “A Lover’s Concerto,” borrowing the melody from Bach’s “Minuet in G major.” Next, Hullabaloo dancer Patrick “Pat” Adiarte debuts a new song from his solo album, “Five Different Girls,” accompanied by five fellow dancers. Harrison then introduces Clark and she performs “Round Every Corner” with the dancers. Clark then bids the audience good night and previews upcoming episodes and stars as the show concludes.
