RULES OF ENGAGEMENT: MANNEQUIN HEAD BALL (TV)
Summary
One in this situation comedy television series about two couples, one recently engaged and another married, and their single friend. Jeff and Audrey try to get out of the lease on their store because they no longer want it. However, the landlord will not oblige, although he will forego rent collection if they clean up the place. Jeff, frustrated, speaks to Adam about the situation and tricks him into helping him clean up. During their cleaning, Jeff talks about how the lease has introduced additional stress into his life and to relieve his stress hits the head off of a mannequin with a broom. This inspires Jeff and Adam to create a game they call “mannequin head ball,” a hockey-like game where each of them attempts to score goals on each other using brooms and the head. They continue playing for hours and decide to make excuses to their respective significant others about their arriving late. Unbeknownst to them, they are being watched by Audrey and Jennifer via an online link to the store’s security camera. They seem fascinated and somewhat amused by Jeff and Adam’s juvenile antics and call them to tease them without revealing they are being watched. Later, Jeff and Adam return home and Audrey is about to berate him for his game, but Jeff apologizes for taking his stress out on her as of late. Audrey, touched, decides not to reveal her knowledge of “mannequin head ball.” Meanwhile, Russell is dating a French girl he’s trying to impress. He learns that Timmy is taking his girlfriend Allison to the Guggenheim Museum and decides to double-date with him to convince the French girl that he’s a cultured individual. That night, at dinner, Russell reaches under the table to place his hand on the French girl’s leg, but grabs Timmy’s leg instead, who believes it is Allison touching him. This continues for some time until both girls go to the restroom, at which point each one recoils, disgusted, ruining their evening. Russell and Timmy tell Jeff and Adam about their mistake last night. To cheer them up, Jeff invites them to play “mannequin head ball” with them. The episode ends as Jeff and Adam discover the security camera and destroy it. Commercials deleted.
