This special follows world-famous operatic tenor Luciano Pavarotti as he returns to Naples, Italy, for the first time in 12 years for a concert at the Teatro di San Carlo. Pavarotti tours the city, interacting with the people and describing their fondness for romance, food and drink, as well as their strong religious convictions and reliance on the sea as a source of income and soulful inspiration. He also tours the birthplace of his fellow famous tenor, Enrico Caruso, whose small childhood apartment he hopes to help transform into a museum.
Songs performed include "'O Paese d' 'o sole," "O surdato 'nnammurato," "Santa Lucia luntana," "Funiculi, Funicula," "Oj Marí" (also known as "Maria, Mari"), "A Marechiare," "Fenesta che lucive," "'O sole mio," and "Torna a Surriento," among others. Commercials deleted.
