ADVENTURE TIME: ADVENTURE TIME WITH FIONNA AND CAKE (TV)
Summary
One in this animated action-adventure series about a boy and his dog and their various escapades in a colorful fantasy kingdom. This episode opens on what appears to be alternate versions of the main characters, changed into the opposite gender. The now-female Finn, named “Fionna,” helps the gender-swapped “Prince Gumball” prepare for his “biennial gumball ball,” accompanied by “Cake,” a female feline version of Jake. They are interrupted by the “Ice Queen” (a female version of the Ice King), who attacks. Prince Gumball is imprisoned by a “slush-beast” summoned by the Ice Queen, but Fionna gets him out. He immediately asks her out on a date, much to Fionna’s surprise and delight. In spite of this, Fionna refuses to believe it is a date, and Cake tries to help her along. The prince meets with her and they go for an outing atop “Lord Monochromicorn” (an altered version of Princess Rainicorn). Prince Gumball gives Fionna a crystal sword as a gift. They seem to have a good time and Prince Gumball ends up asking Fionna to his gumball ball as his “girlfriend.” Cake helps her prepare for the ball, but Fionna insists on taking the crystal sword with her. When Fionna gets to the ball, Prince Gumball takes her into his bedroom and locks the door. Prince Gumball reveals that he is actually the Ice Queen; the real Prince Gumball is frozen in a block of ice on the ceiling. Fionna and Cake defeat the Ice Queen and free Prince Gumball. The real Prince Gumball asks Fionna out on a date, but Fionna refuses. The episode ends as the source of the plot is revealed: the entire story is a fan-fiction written by the real-life Ice King, which he has been reading aloud to a captured Finn and Jake. Commercials deleted.
