ARCHER: THE MAN FROM JUPITER (TV)
Summary
One in this animated comedy series about the misadventures of sex-obsessed secret agent Sterling Archer and his eccentric co-workers in the fictional International Secret Intelligence Service (ISIS). Archer meets his idol, Burt Reynolds, in a bar and starts gushing over his film work. He discovers, much to his disgust, that Burt is dating his mother. Later, he voices his disapproval to her, but she informs him that a Cuban hit squad is in town, trying to kill Archer. Despite Malory and the other ISIS agents warning Archer to lay low, he suspects that the hit squad was merely a fabrication from his mother so she could be alone with Burt. That night, Malory receives a note from Burt breaking up with her. Malory is devastated, but Lana suspects that the note was forged by Archer, and that he has kidnapped Burt. Lana's suspicions are correct: Archer has captured Burt Reynolds and ties him up in his penthouse apartment. He attempts to convince Burt to stop dating Malory, but to no success. Lana and some of the ISIS staff drive down to Archer's building to get Burt back, but the Cuban hit squad appears and attacks them, chasing them off. Archer prepares to help them, but Burt believes he can drive Archer fast enough to catch up to the hit squad. He makes a bet and says that if he fails in this task, he will stop dating Malory; Archer agrees. While in the midst of their high-speed car chase, Burt postulates that Archer is uncomfortable with him dating Malory due to his inability to see his mother as a person with emotional needs, rather than simply his mother. Burt and Archer arrive in time, defeat the hit squad, and save Lana and the others from crashing to their deaths. Burt and Archer find Malory and Archer admits to writing the note. The episode ends as Burt takes Malory out on a date, and Archer appears to have reconciled his feelings on the matter. Commercials deleted.
