MODERN FAMILY: HIT AND RUN (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series, a "mockumentary" about the eccentric individuals comprising three inter-related families in Los Angeles. In this episode, Claire has an unpleasant run-in with Duane Bailey, the obsequious councilman who blocked her stop-sign proposal, and Mitch is embarrassed when Cam lectures a dad for bringing his young children to an "inappropriate" movie. Gloria is annoyed when Manny dismisses her suggestions for his school essay on organized crime, and Jay tries to land a high-profile client, Josh, a young man with strangely over-the-top dreams for an extremely "cool" closet. Haley attempts to borrow $900 from her siblings, though neither one has the necessary "liquid assets," and at Phil's urging, Claire decides to run against Duane for the council seat, though Duane dismisses her as merely a "bored housewife." Cam and Mitch are rear-ended by a careless driver, and when he hurriedly speeds away from the scene, Mitch objects to Cam's desperate attempts to chase him down.
Phil soon proves inept as a stay-at-home parent in Claire's absence, and Jay brushes off Gloria's suggestions of how to "wow" Josh with a closet design. Cam and Mitch tell the others about the hit-and-run driver, and everyone seems to agree with Cam's more aggressive plan. Claire learns that Haley lost her friends' money when a would-be fake-ID artist failed to deliver his product, and the men all charge off to face down the thief. Left alone, Claire admits to Gloria that she is afraid of losing the election, but Gloria, relieved to finally be asked for advice, assures Claire that she is strong enough to handle the outcome either way. The fake-ID man, Peter, attempts to make a run for it when Jay, Cam and Phil arrive at his house, and the non-confrontational Mitch ends up tackling him and retrieving his niece's money. Gloria then uses her "wisdom" to sell Josh on Phil's original closet design, and the men converse about their own long-ago adventures with fake IDs, with greatly varying results. Includes commercials and promos.
