COUGAR TOWN: A ONE STORY TOWN (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about the misadventures of an eccentric, wine-loving group of friends, lovers and family in Gulfhaven, Florida. In this episode, Jules is alarmed to learn that Travis has invited the nerdy Ted and his a capella group to stay in her home for a week, as all the hotels are filled with Quebecoise tourists for the crab festival. Travis, Andy and Bobby play a rousing game of Penny Can and Bobby admits that he "blew it" with Angie, Travis' attractive photography teacher, by making awkward comments on a date. Jules decides to help him, explaining to the others that he gets nervous at the beginning of a relationship, but relaxes after the first kiss. She adds that he is the best kisser she knows, which bothers Grayson. At the crab festival, Laurie complains that she cannot leave the crowded town because of her police ankle bracelet, but they use the socially awkward Tom as a "group exploder" to snag themselves a table. When Bobby arrives, she tells him all about the magical day she has planned for him and Angie, during which he will have to talk very little and which will culminate with a perfect kiss. Jules dubs herself Captain of "Operation Kiss the Girl," though Ellie refuses to assist, but though she attempts to coach Bobby over the phone, he soon makes a terrible mess of things with his inappropriate behavior, made worse by a squabbling Andy and Travis. Laurie has a spicy-food-related mishap and fails at her part of the mission, and Jules heads off to help, though Grayson is preoccupied with proving his kissing skills to her.
Jules drags Grayson along to lunch with Angie and Bobby, though Grayson's jealous mood and Bobby's poor food choice take things from bad to worse. When Laurie accidentally crosses the city limits, Andy is left alone on the beach to scope out a perfect spot for Angie and Bobby's kiss, but even this goes wrong when the couple is joined by some dead wildlife. Dejected, Bobby goes home, and Jules is frustrated, deciding to give it one last try. After assuring Grayson that is an excellent kisser after all, she convinces a reluctant Ellie to track down Angie and, employing Ted's singing group, her "Tom Cruise run" and Tom's group-exploding skills, sets up a romantic scenario and brings the couple back together at the plaza. Angie is touched that Bobby would go to such lengths for her, and they finally share a perfect first kiss in front of everyone. Elsewhere, however, Ted is disturbed at his sense of déjà vu, saying that everyone around him reminds him of people from "his old job" at the hospital. Commercials deleted.
