MAD MEN: TOMORROWLAND {SEASON FOUR FINALE} (TV)
Summary
One in this drama series about the goings-on at a New York City advertising agency in the 1960s, centering on high-level executive Don Draper.
In this episode, Don confides his insecurities to Faye about the office fallout from the Lucky Strike fiasco. Later, after Don pitches a campaign to the American Cancer Society, he finds a lack of support from Ken to land the account. Meanwhile, Lane informs Joan that she's been promoted to director of agency operations.
Betty arrives at her home to find Glen saying goodbye to Sally before the move. Betty throws him out before firing Carla for having allowed the children to meet. Don is equally angry after hearing about Carla, as it upsets his plans to have someone watch Sally, Bobby, and Gene during their imminent California trip. He impulsively asks his secretary Megan to fill in -- for double her office salary -- and she accepts.
Harry observes as Joyce and model Carolyn visit with Peggy. Harry openly flirts with Carolyn as Ken and Peggy make a savvy advertising move based on Joyce's news tip about troubles over the Topaz panty hose account. Ken and Peggy subsequently visit the Topaz office and land a deal, reversing the team's downward spiral after the loss of Lucky Strike.
In California, Don is delighted at Megan's rapport with his children. After taking them to Anna's house to settle the estate with Stephanie, Don feels depressed when seeing reminders of his past with Anna. However, he continues to be impressed by Megan's motherly ways, leading to the two spending the night together. Meanwhile, Henry fights viciously with Betty after learning of Carla's dismissal.
The next morning, Don professes love for Megan and proposes, giving her Anna's engagement ring. She gleefully accepts. Back at the office, Don tells the news to Joan, Pete, Lane, and Roger. Later, Ken and Peggy hear the commotion, after which Peggy and Joan share a moment of camaraderie at Don and Megan's expense.
Don eventually takes Faye's call and states that they're through, causing her to break down. Meanwhile, Joan talks on the phone to Greg in Vietnam and updates him on her pregnancy's progress. Finally, Don accidentally runs into Betty at their nearly empty house and reveals his pending nuptials. Over a drink, they share a bittersweet reflection on their past before parting ways.
