Summary
The first in this comedy series about Joe and Louis, a gay-straight pair of lifelong best friends and partners in a New York architecture firm.
n this episode, Joe and Louis discuss a new business plan and Joe ponders breaking up with his girlfriend Ali, saying that she recently pressured him to settle down and get married, for which he does not feel ready. Louis tells him to trust his gut and that if he is unsure about their future, he should let her go. Later, however, Ali reveals good news from work and apologizes for her previous comments; Joe proposes on the spot. Elsewhere, Louis' boyfriend Wyatt is surprised to discover that Louis is embarrassed by his profession as a nurse, instead telling people that he is a doctor. At yoga class, Louis is unaware of the engagement and accidentally reveals to Ali that Joe had planned to break up with her due to his being unready for marriage. Ali is furious. When she tells Joe what happened and ends the engagement, Joe angrily berates Louis for his many faux pas over the years and declares their business relationship and their friendship over.
Joe runs into Wyatt and explains the situation, and Wyatt tells him that despite his flighty behavior, Louis' heart is usually in the right place. Louis goes to visit Ali to plead his friend's case; he tells her about their longtime bond and Joe's troubling experience with his parents' divorce, saying that they have always taken care of one another. He "proposes" to her that she reconsider Joe, and she agrees to think about it. When Louis returns to the office to clean out his things, Ali calls Joe and explains what Louis did for him, and both the engagement and the boys' friendship are repaired. Later, the friends all discuss the upcoming wedding, concluding that there are three "couples" amongst the four of them. Commercials deleted.
