HAPPY DAYS: SPUNKLESS SPUNKY (TV)
Summary
One in this series of comedies about life in the 1950s. In this episode, new neighbor Ben Wilson threatens Howard after he finds that Spunky has torn up his garden, not realizing that Spunky is Fonzie's dog. Shortly thereafter, Fonzie notices that Spunky won't eat or play. A party for the dog at Arnold's does nothing to change his mood.
Richie takes Spunky to a vet, but a results show that Spunky is physically fine, but depressed. Potsie then suggests a meeting with visiting psychologist Dr. Joyce Brothers, who agrees to stop by the Cunningham home. She thinks that someone in the household may be causing the dog's depression, but later concludes that Spunky needs time in the country to enjoy clean air and open spaces.
As Fonzie prepares his pooch for a "doggie dude ranch," the Wilsons' dog Peaches runs to Spunky's side. It turns out that Peaches has been Spunky's girlfriend and he hadn't seen her since the garden incident, causing the bad mood. Fonzie vows to change that, particularly since he's attracted to Peaches' owner, Ben's comely daughter Eileen. Commercials deleted.
