MODERN FAMILY: SNIP (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series, a "mockumentary" about the eccentric individuals comprising three inter-related families in Los Angeles. In this episode, Phil prepares to get a vasectomy, not wanting to endanger his and Claire's "five-year plan" of a kid-free household. Alex embraces a new "goth" style as Mitch grows exasperated with Cam's endless amount of free time, wondering how best to suggest that he go back to work. An increasingly pregnant Gloria refuses to embrace dowdy maternity clothes, and Cam surprises Mitch at work, yet again. Claire finds herself on the receiving end of a locker booby trap when she drops off Luke's forgotten science project, and when Mitchell secretly enlists their friend Longinus to offer Cam a job at his clothing store, co-worker Jeoux accidentally spills the beans about Mitch's desperation. Manny frets to an inappropriately attired Gloria that his music teacher has been fired, and when Jay accompanies Phil to his appointment, Phil grows frightened of the procedure and runs away from the office.
Claire catches Alex and her edgy new friend Skylar cutting school, and she accidentally makes matters worse when she intervenes in their hair-shaving plans. Mitch tries to apologize to Cam, who is outraged at the implication that he is a freeloader, but Cam finally admits that he is indeed "unfulfilled" by his lack of employment. Jay chases after Phil, who admits that he is afraid of the pain of the procedure, and Jay reveals that he too is scared that his forthcoming child will be a girl, feeling that he made mistakes with Claire in the past. Phil is encouraged by his confession, though a poorly placed bench ad somewhat demeans his newfound confidence. Manny finally forces Gloria to admit that her pregnancy is showing, but assures her that she has "two partners" for support, unlike last time. Claire is pleased to see that Haley and Alex are bonding over the mishap with Skylar, though remains committed to the "five-year plan," and a happy Cam soon fills the vacant music-teacher job at Manny's school. Later, the family e-mails embarrassing pictures of one another around.
